Coldplay’s relationship with Glastonbury and the Eavis family has always been very close and this possibly marks the beginnings of that. Emily was very instrumental in Chris’s involvement with the Make Trade Fair campaign. Their headlining date in 2002 was also seen as the deadline for the second album throughout the recording and if this tiny show was not the moment when they were asked, it must surely have been a big step in the right direction.
Whilst the words Glastonbury Festival conjure up images of vast fields full of people and and event on a huge scale, this is, as the name suggests, a tiny show held on a village playing field as a thank you for local folks, as part of the village’s annual fete. From small acorns, indeed!
