O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire

On the night of the 2009 Brit Awards, Coldplay came together with The Killers for an incredible concert at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire in aid of War Child, in front of just 2,000 fans (following a lottery for the chance to buy tickets).

After hot-footing it from Earls Court after the Brits, each band played a blistering set, with Coldplay’s performance not beginning until 12,30am! It all ended some time around 1.30am with the almost surreal sight of Brandon Flowers, U2 frontman Bono and Take That singer Gary Barlow arriving on stage to join the band for a rousing finale performance of The Killers’ All Those Things That I’ve Done.

The night celebrated War Child’s 15th Anniversary, with all profits from the show going to aid War Child’s amazing work to protect the most marginalised children in war zones, who would otherwise be overlooked.

It was a very special night, and one which will certainly live long in the memories of those lucky enough to be present.

Read Roadie #42’s excellent blog about the Brits and the War Child show.
