I’m wandering back into the venue from the buses when I heara brass band playing Viva on the concourse overhead. It’s surprising how well it works, actually.
This local flavour continues as the standard Viva-chant that starts among the crowd pre-show is replaced with sporadic chants of rugby-crowd-favourite “oggy oggy oggy”. After over a year of touring, it’s pleasing that the crowd can still rescue us from Groundhog Day…
The C-stage brings a request for ’Til Kingdom Come, the song the guys wrote for the late great Johnny Cash (who, as Chris says tonight, came within a couple of weeks of recording it before his untimely death). As Guy, Will and Jonny head off back to the A-Stage, Chris launches into an impromptu version of Ring Of Fire.
