On the day that the stripped-back single version of Everglow was released, the band played a special, intimate show for around 2,000 competition winners at the UK’s most famous theatre, in central London.

Coming in the week when Donald Trump was unexpectedly elected president of the United States, the concert proved to be a stirring, emotional occasion. During it, Chris told the audience that recent events proved that anyone really can achieve anything, and that we should all use that as a motivation to make the world a better place.

The show, which was broadcast live on Absolute Radio, also featured Chris’s beautiful solo cover of Suzzanne, by Leonard Cohen, whose passing had been announced that day.

During soundcheck, the band took the chance to jam on a new song (it sounded wonderful).
