On October 30 and November 6, 2018, Coldplay’s fifth member – and Creative Director – Phil Harvey, took to Twitter to answer fans’ questions about the new A Head Full Of Dreams documentary film (and to drop a few little hints about the band’s future).
Hola Argentina! Yes i’ve seen it many times now, at different stages of the edit. Mat sent me the first cut around a year ago. I was so impressed by how Mat wove it together. He’s got so much stylistic flair (he’s half Argentinian!). The old footage from 1997-8 is crazy ? PH https://t.co/eGkNYJTxjh
The film is like a trampoline from one universe to the next... so much more to come!
AHFOD album / tour felt like the culmination and fulfilment of something. I guess that’s why we put childhood photos of the five of us on the album cover: kids’ crazy dreams coming true. The film is like a trampoline from one universe to the next… so much more to come! PH https://t.co/BS71xDm9xW
The band were amazingly relaxed. I don’t think they objected to anything. Chris hasn’t even seen the film (he explains why at the beginning of the movie). We love Mat like a brother and we trust him 100%. He’s a brilliant director so why interfere? PH https://t.co/uF4oIhoej6
I guess because the film is really about friendship, and how relationships evolve through a crazy shared experience
I’m in it WAY more than I wanted to be. But Mat said I was an important part of the story / overall vibe. I guess because the film is really about friendship, and how relationships evolve through a crazy shared experience. @daveholmesmgmt in it too – as the voice of reason! https://t.co/MsV8c55myo
I’d say it’s only 25% concert footage. Most of it is story-telling. The concert bits are very cool though because we filmed shows all around the world. PH https://t.co/CudY0QZyzL
I love the early stuff from 1997-2000, when we were all so scruffy and innocent. The X&Y studio footage is fascinating – especially as I wasn’t there so I didn’t see it firsthand. So many great scenes in the movie… I love all of it! PH https://t.co/e5VQfUI9AM
The film’s amazing director @MatWhitecross was G,W, J & C’s friend even before they were a band. He was filming them just hanging out from 1997. He was there to film the first rehearsal, and he’s been filming them ever since. @Millerworld also got great stuff from 2000 on. PH https://t.co/MKGBGod5bq
I think it's nice to glance over your shoulder sometimes, even if just to remind yourself that anything is possible
I think you might be right. He never likes to look back, he’s always looking forwards. But I think it’s nice to glance over your shoulder sometimes, even if just to remind yourself that anything is possible. PH https://t.co/sFsPMhWMEt
I just feel more grateful than ever to have these five amazing human beings – Chris, Guy, Will, Jonny and Dave – as my brothers in life and music. PH https://t.co/eU56SYRf6a
Right, I’ve got to run. Thanks so much for all your questions. Sorry I couldn’t answer all of them. Can’t wait for you all to see #AHFODfilm. This was a lot of fun – same time next week? PH
Different smells for different eras: crusty socks and burnt toast for 1997-2000, cigarette smoke and ginsters pasties for 2001- 2003, not sure after that until 2014 – present day, Chris’ special rubbing oil for his throat, my haircare products PH https://t.co/0PAvtjwKpj
2/2 @debswild@_FiercePanda@jowhiley@estwilki Ken Nelson, Markus Dravs, Caroline Elleray, Dan Keeling .. + loads more, all ESSENTIAL to the band’s story and success, but we just didn’t have time to show everything that happened. Film is more impressionistic than historical PH https://t.co/9qXvskuIiN
