The band begin their very first headline tour in Cambridge

Pictured here is the tour itinerary for Coldplay’s first headline tour. The itinerary is prepared by the tour manager and issued to everyone on the tour. Every day on tour has its own page with vital information about the venue location, contact details, running times and anything else that may be useful.
Due to the fact that tour itineraries are prepared and printed in advance of the first show, whilst things are still liable to change, the itinerary is very often known on tour as “the book of lies”.
Also pictured here is a setlist kindly donated by Hoppy who has been working for the band all this time. At this point, he’d have been looking after the whole band, but his main focus during the show would have been guitars and tunings, hence the detailed notes here. (Note, too, In My Place from A Rush Of Blood To The Head already on the setlist.)
These days, he looks after Chris exclusively – having watched him piecing the “flying Telecaster” together each day following its nightly smashing in God Put A Smile, I’d be surprised if he would say it’s got much easier…
